Now listen.. these are merely ideas. Some of these categories will shine in 2016 and some will surely flop. You need to do your own research before diving blinding into these markets.
So What Niche Should You Choose?
When you’re just getting started you may want to choose one of the three best evergreen markets to enter online. They are as follows:
Now I know those are very broad topics. That’s OK, please stay with me, because we’re not done yet.
You can never go wrong if you pick a market related to one of these three topics. If you think about it they’re really the most important topics on everybody’s mind every single day. And they also seem to cause people the most problems as well (which is why they’re so damn good for us!).
People spend a lot of money and time trying to improve and iron out anything related to these three topics. That will always be the case so if you need some ideas just think about what problems people are always looking to solve. People are happy to part with some money to make life easier in these three key areas.
There is a ton of competition in these three niches but there’s also a ton of money being made as well. Competition in your niche is good since it proves that money is already being made in that niche. And you’re not going to be competing with all of them. Only a segment.
So start digging into the possibilities and choose your first niche.

How And Where To Research Niche Ideas
I use several different market and trends research services and sites and you should too. The more diversified your research is (across several unrelated platforms) the more accurate your results will be. All of these resources listed below are absolutely free to use.
Google Trends: Find out which topics and markets and trending on Google right now – including a timeline curve. And trust me, Google has a metric shit-ton of data to draw from. (Probably only the NSA has more!)
Alibaba Trends: I’m sure you’ve heard of Alibaba even if you’re in the States like I am. Alibaba is an enormous eCommerce company based out of China. They have a niche trends feature just like Google does.
Amazon: Amazon is one of the very best sites for doing market research. They sell so much stuff in so many different areas there is almost nothing you can’t find info on here. Hint: if you can’t find good date here on your market or niche it’s either a dud or it hasn’t gone mainstream yet!
Look for their numerous lists by:
- Best Sellers
- Hot New Releases
- Most Gifted
- Most Wished For
- Movers & Shakers
Magazines.com: This site has a ton of great data for you to look through. Including lists of the most popular titles by niche, market, or area focus. If there are popular magazines for a topic it’s likely a winner in eCommerce.
Google’s Insights: Insights allows you to compare search volume patterns across different platforms by category, region, and time frame. If you’re new to Google Insights look for one of their many tutorials so you can get the most out of this valuable research tool.
Yahoo: Yahoo has a tool called Buzz Index. The Yahoo Buzz Index measures the pulse of consumers by analyzing search activity on the Yahoo network. By examining the quantity of and relationships between searches the Buzz Index provides unique insights into consumers’ engagement with brands, products, public figures and other commonly searched items.
It’s a powerful tool that you can use to:
- Identify trends over time
- Conduct competitive analysis
- Understand relationship among and between brands & products
- Reveal audience demographics, geographics, and interests
- Track your campaign performances in Yahoo
Google Adwords Keyword Planner is a free AdWords tool that helps you build Search Network campaigns by finding keyword ideas and estimating how they may perform. Statistics show the relative amount of users searching for that keyword on Google. As I mentioned before, Google has a TON of data that you can use.
